The Worst to Come

"Now that we are bigger I think it would be wise to cover more territory." Barren said from the top of a run down cop car. His eyes scanned over the three new dogs of the pack. "Alaska I want you to take Roxie and Crater to the east side of the territory, and make sure we can claim that." she nodded looking at him. "Jupiter I want you to come with me and Asher to the north side. We will report back here when the sun is at his highest." he nodded up to the sky. The sun seemed to be barely hanging onto the sky, like a bug on a glass bowl trying to get to the top.

Alaska hobbled along the well trampled path towards the east side of the territory. The black and white dog was much farther ahead because she was the scout. Her senses heightened to the extreme. Her breath showed as she scented the air. "Anything?!" yipped Crater. Her teeth flashed as she growled back to the trainee,"Be quiet!" something wasn't right...something was coming. Roxie trotted to Alaska, "What?" the other dog glanced her way. "Something is here.. its surrounding us.." Roxie began to growl and look around,"Crater come here!" Crater rolled his eyes thinking nothing was wrong, "Why, whats the ho-" Alaska cut him off once she saw what she was smelling, two-legs. (continue from there)

Mean while with Asher, Jupiter and Barren..

"Jupiter you smell anything?" Barren barked to the other dog while looking at Asher. Jupiter shook his head then spoke. "No nothing.."he said turning his head with a stop. the white leader looked up at the sky to see the sun at its highest point. "alright lets head back to meet the others." Asher nodded as jupiter ran to catch up to them. The three get there and dont see the others, "its not like Roxie to be late.." Jupiter whispers to Barren. "yea..lets go check it out.."

  1. Alaska's heart rate picked up. She felt for a moment as though she had all four paws, and turned abruptly to the side, stumbling. That wasn't uncommon. Often times she would feel as though her missing leg was back, a phantom leg, especially in tense situations. The white spotted dog hurried towards Carter. "Stick close together!" She snapped, angry at not scenting the two legs earlier. They'll try to catch us...Or hurt us.. Her blue eyes scanned for how many there were, her lips pulling back in a snarl. She didn't really feel too close of a connection to the two other dogs with her, but she knew they had a better chance together than every dog for themselves.

Carter wasn't afraid. He only knew two-legs to be sweet and kind; too sweet and kind, in fact. "I don't know what you're freaking out about." He padded away from the group, his curling tail wagging. "Two legs are friendly. They'll just let us on our way." The sandy male dog cocked his head in confusion looking at his fearful companions.

"Carter!" Alaska barked as he strayed away from the group. He was talking crazy talk.

Asher pricked his ears and scented the air. He was especially good at tracking, a task he learned on the farm. "We should follow their scent exactly, in case they got off course." His tail hung low as he worried for them. When something in a herd or pack goes missing, that's never a good sign. I have to corral them up..I mean, find them and bring them back. Back home, or at the farm, the herds of cattle and sheep had been his 'pack' along with the farmer. The farmer...He shook the thought away, his amber eyes clouded for a moment. He was ready to do what Barran needed him to.

  2. The two-legs came closer holding rocks and sticks in their hands ready to strike Crater. Roxie set her ears back, "you fox-dung!" she growled coldly. The golden dog charged as the male two-leg club at him with the rock he had in his hand. the dirty male didn't flinch. In the thought of action she leaped up at him and clamped down on his arm.

As the three followed the scent he noticed it changed to a mix of two-legs and the pack. "Asher, you notice that?"

Barren wasn't much of a tracker, only known for his blunt force so couldnt tell as quickly. "what is it?"

  3. Alaska was shocked when Roxie actually bit the long legged animal. She had never attacked a two leg. But what choice do we have? Her muscles were tense. "Carter, go into one of those cars!" She flicked her black nose.

Carter was cowering. He had been hit with a few rocks by now. He didn't realize how evil two legs were. Then again, he hadn't seen many except the nice ones he left. "W-why?" His brown eyes were wide.

Alaska gave him a shove. "Push on the middle of the wheel in the front, don't be seen!" she snapped. "Hold it down! Even if it's loud!" The only thing she knew two legs to be afraid of, were other two legs. We have to trick them.

"But why..what about t-them?" He looked fearfully at the advancing two legs and Roxie fighting.

"Me and Roxie will hold them off, just do it!" Alaska snarled with urgency. The pup ran to do the task she set put for him. The she dog turned and, after a moment of holding back her panic, she joined Roxie in the fight. Two leg blood was a strange taste.

Asher felt his fur rise. "Two legs." The distinct scent hit his nose. He knew his farmer and the farmer's mate were good people. But many other two legs were not. "They're in danger!" His coal gray fur rose.

  4. Roxie was being beaten with the bat and rocks flung at her head. "just a little longer!" she growled to Alaska.

Barren's ears pricked as he was told what was going on.

    Jupiter followed close behind.

The two-legs stopped with wide eyes they saw the other dogs combined with the horn,"James lets go!" the short blonde yelled to the man. He nodded and kicked off the dogs, his brown eyes full of fear and anger,"there goes dinner!!" his voice echoed as it trailed threw the streets.

Roxie wheezed with pain. as she saw Asher and the others.

Barren ran passed Jupiter and Asher "is everyone okay?!"

  5. Alaska was relieved when the two legs ran off. She had been hit multiple times and her head was throbbing. Her teeth hurt from biting through cloths and tough, bony bodies. The taste of human was in her mouth and it made her gag. Such foul creatures.. The white spotted dog turned to her fellow pack mates as they approached. "Look who showed up just in time." Her blue eyes were still icy despite her beaten state.

Asher flattened his ears, whining softly. Two legs had hurt his friends. Were they his friends? He didn't know any of them very well. Yet he still felt connected to them. "We have to get you guys back in a hurry, before more come." The gray dog hurried over to support Roxie, who seemed the most hurt. His amber eyes were filled with concern.

Carter quickly hopped out of the car and ran to his friends, keeping himself low to the ground. "That was so loud!" He complained, his ears ringing. Though, he was glad it seemed to have helped drive away the ugly two legged creatures. The sandy male was glad to see more of the pack had come. "I've never seen two legs act that way!" His usual playful brown eyes were now full of fear and he shook uncontrollably.

  6. "That's a two leg for ya, when they are hungry, scared or just crazy that's what happens..", Barren said glancing at Crater. "do you need any help walking?" his glance shifted to Alaska already predicting the answer. No!

Roxie sighed with closed eyes as she felt the touch of a gentle being. "thanks.."she whispered under her breath. Apologies didn't come from her often but when are given show her nice sensitive side. the golden dog was wobbly and disoriented as she tried to walk.

Jupiter just watched quietly, "ill go get the herbs." he dashed off away from where the two legs were headed.

  7. Asher flicked his ears at her gratitude. He'd help anyone in the pack of ever needed. "You fought bravely." He bsrked to her and Alaska. Carter probably would have been killed without them.

The little dog shook his head at the offer. Carter's shakes slowly died down. He was a fast recoverer. "Jupiter! Do you need any help?" He asked the dog, trotting after him.

Alaska hadnt gotten in many fights in her life. She felt her wounds sting and her jaw was tense. Her blue eyes looked at Barran and she was glad he didn't ask to help her. She glanced down at the empty spot were her leg should be, a cold feeling in her heart.

  8. Roxie nodded with graduate as she hobbled against Asher.

Jupiter looked back but kept walking, "keep up." The spotted dog barked as she disappeared from sight.

Barren worried as she watched Alaska walk. He didnt know what to sayg anything at all. " you both are brave, butbwebwill have to celebrate when your better and when we find out where they are. Those twolegs will not get away with this.." Barren's fur rose as he growled deeply. no one hurts this family..no one...they must be driven out

  9. Carter picked up his speed. "What are we looking for?" He asked, his curled tail wagging. His brown eyes were bright despite the earlier scene.

Alaska felt Barran staring at her. She dropped back to watch with him. "I know what you're thinking." She spoke quietly. "I dont need you to worry about my leg. I'm fine. I can keep up and fight just as well as anyone." She looked at him with frosty blue eyes, trying to hide her limp as she matched his stride.

Asher helped Roxie along. "I'm not sure I could have attacked two leg's like that." He said, worried about meeting them again.

  10. "We are looking for cobweds, poppy seeds and some water."he saud without looking at him. "You okay??" Jupiter finally asked as he caught sight of some cobwebs.

"I know you can, I just worry. We are a family..its just a force of habit.." his brown eyes shifted as she stared at him. He slightly noticed her struggle so slowed his pace.

Roxie felt her stomach ping with sorrow, "I can understand why..it is hard but after what many of them did to me I can careless.."her soft and touching moment left as quickly as it came.
